InterPore2026 welcomes attendees from all around the world – and looks forward to seeing you in Nantes next May!
The information below is intended to help you navigate visa requirements and prepare for your trip.
Do I need a visa to go to France?
IF YOU ARE AN EU/EEA OR SWISS CITIZEN:
You do not need a visa or special travel authorization to enter France. A valid national ID card or passport is sufficient for entry and short stays (up to 90 days within a 180-day period).
IF YOU ARE FROM OUTSIDE THE EU (including the UK, US, Canada, Australia, etc.):
- France is part of the Schengen Area, which allows for short-term travel (up to 90 days within any 180-day period) without a visa for citizens of many countries.
- Check if you need a visa here: https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en/web/france-visas.
If you do require a visa, it is strongly recommended that you begin the application process well in advance—ideally at least two to three months before the conference. Visa support letters can be requested once your abstract has been submitted. See the VISA section below for details.
How to Apply for a Visa (if required)
- Visit the website of your local French embassy or consulate as soon as possible to review your country-specific application procedures and processing times.
- Visa processing can take several weeks. We strongly recommend starting your application at least 90 days before your departure.
Visa support letters:
- You may request a visa support letter from InterPore once you have submitted your abstract.
- To obtain a visa letter:
- Fill out the form
- Email the completed form to: sandra.bartsch@interpore.org.
- We will sign and stamp the form before returning it to you. Unsigned forms are not valid.
- If you are attending the conference without presenting (e.g., as an attendee or exhibitor), you must first complete your registration before requesting a visa letter.
