InterPore2023 will have an exciting and varied program. In addition to the technical portions of the conference, you will find many opportunities for personal and professional development.

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is organizing a number of fun and inspiring events. Some of the social and networking events which are being worked on include: Arthur’s Seat Fun Run, Distillery tour, Cèilidh dance – traditional Scottish dancing, and a bagpipe concert. These events will be open for all participants. Stay tuned for more information!

In conjunction with The Student Affairs Committee (SAC), the LOC is also preparing several events and activities for students. These include: the annual SAC Career event, which will include 3-4 short, informal talks. Topics such as selecting academia or industry and the challenges of transitioning between them will be covered; parallel workshops on the peer review process, CV development for academia and industry, public presentation skills, and successful grant writing; Indoor climbing at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena (EICA), Europe’s largest indoor climbing centre; a museum and national gallery tour in Edinburgh; and a team building activity/game at a pub. More details to come!

The InterPore DEI committee is pleased to present the first InterPore DEI lecture and lunchtime workshop on Monday, 22 May. Lecturer Chris Jackson is a top expert in the UK in the area of DEI and has worked as an academic at Imperial and Manchester and now leads geosciences at Jacobs. Following Professor Jackson's lecture, lunch will be provided during a DEI workshop.
